Romancing Caesar
That a Catholic priest can be immersed in egregious sin has become pretty apparent over the last few years. That he can be unaware of it is a good question. If there is such a thing as an autonomous Christian, you’d think that a Catholic priest would be the last soul to make such a specious claim. But it appears that this is what Father John I. Jenkins the President of Notre Dame University is claiming. By ignoring his Bishops and the Catholic Church, he is also actively sullying the Virgin Mary for which his institution is named. Jenkins’s responses in his own defense paint him as nothing more than a sophist. His inviting a proved abortionist to receive a law degree may appear to be simply “Rendering unto Caesar,” but in fact he is openly and unashamedly flirting and whoring with Caesar instead.
